With the huge success of her book, “The Show Must Go On”, The rumors are all over about a film version of her infamous “First Lady of Ybor City” life . All we can confirm so far is that there are definitely several people talking about it.
Saving Mr. Banks
Our very favorite place for watching new movie releases is at the Centro Muvico 20. Located in the heart of GaYBOR it’s perfect for the before or after date night too. Us, being huge “Mary Poppins” fans, were very excited to see the newly released Oscar talked about movie, “Saving Mr. Banks.”
The film did not let us down. We were laughing then in tears. We are sure this film will be nominated for film of the year. Don’t wait. Go & see “Saving Mr. Banks’ today.

There are so many stories and tales about the old St Pete gay resort, SunCoast Resort that a lot have to be re-told. The Bear parties at the resort were always over the top. They sold out the resort from Bears from around the country. These guys sure knew how to party. There were drinking & eating contests and of course a lot of ‘Hey how are you’ greetings.’ Other contests like… how many bears would it take to overflow the huge pool! I think the record was 8 guys! The most bacon 1 could consume at 1 setting…24 pounds. Oh yeah we were there for that one at the resorts Flamingo Restaurant.
At MC Film we always carried fun things for the bears from XL shirts to XXXL thongs. At one party they invited us to the PRIVATE 3rd floor Bear Black Out Party. We had never been to one before but were told there would be great food & fun. It was about the time that bright fluorescent glow sticks & black light toys were just starting to get popular.
We had flashing buttons on that said, “Party!!!” There were two things they forgot to tell us. First, it was that Black Out meant there were no lights on. The second was that everybody was naked!!! There we walked in with our flashing button lights. Flash everybody was naked, Flash everything went black. I don’t know who was more surprised the Bears (who looked like deer in headlights) or us! Then a little voice came from the group of bears. It was a friend of ours. He said “Uncle Mark, Uncle Carrie, toss that flasher out & join us.”
We headed to the door at mach speeds! LOL LOL

News From Tampa Baseball Museum In Ybor

Another Tampa native reaches Cooperstown
Tampa has been long known as one of America’s leading baseball cities for producing a volume of top talent and fostering baseball culture. The roster of elite players from Tampa grew in December with the announcement that Tony LaRussa – born and raised in West Tampa – was unanimously voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. He joins Al Lopez and Wade Boggs in adding to Tampa’s rich baseball legacy in the Hall of Fame.
Widely known for his managerial accomplishments, LaRussa graduated from Jefferson High School and was drafted as a player by the Kansas City Royals in 1963. LaRussa spent 10 years as a pro and in the Minor and Major leagues. The White Sox offered LaRussa his first opportunity as a manager in 1979, which spurred one of the most illustrious careers of any manager in baseball history: three World Series Championships, six league pennants and 12 division championships. He holds the distinction of having the third most wins of any manager with a staggering 2,728 wins over 33 years, and is succeeded only by Connie Mack and John McGraw. The Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House congratulates Tony LaRussa on his acceptance into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place July 27, 2014. |
