Every Wednesday the Ybor Wine Bar holds a wine tasting class. A group of 6 of us decided to give it a try and show some LOVE to the Wine bar. What a Fantastic night we had! We all sampled several wines and had food that goes with each. Michael explained what we should be tasting and where the wines were from. We were outside and lots of social distancing. On your next Double or Triple Date Night give this a try! Reservations are suggested (813) 999-4966. CHEERS

Congratulations The Giunta Farm and Home.
It is official, the Giunta Farm and Homestead historic marker is up! We are so lucky to have not only the Farm designated a historic Local Landmark but also to count Vicki and Tessie Giunta as our neighbors. They are wonderful, warm and always willing to tell histories of growing up in Ybor City.
The Italian Cemetery in Ybor City
Remembering Sammy Campisi One Ybor Character that’s for sure. Nobody could tell a story like Sammy. One day Sammy gave us a tour of the cemetery. A few years later in 2009, we asked him to do it again, this time on film. Then a year later he passed away. Sammy is buried right in this Cemetery here that he was narrating as he joined the history at this place and his family. R.I.P. Our Good Friend.
Dreux describe himself as a Trans Bear. We all called him a Nice Guy. His family and friends came together at Centennial Park, in Ybor City for his celebration of life. With social distancing we all spread out and remembered the good times. Lucas Wehle performed several great songs on his guitar. It was one of the nicest celebrations of life that we had ever been to. Dreux died death by suicide.
Growing up my Mom was a Democrat and Dad was a Republican. Both were very old school. You don’t talk politics or religion outside the home. Every election day Mom would announce that she did her part and voted against my Dad. That way she canceled out his vote!!! He might be the head of the house but she had a voice too. This became a running joke in our family for years. GO MOM!!! After Mom passed away, I was talking to Dad. He had just been voting. Proudly Dad said that for the very 1st time his vote counted because Mom didn’t vote to cancel him out!!! LOL LOL I told him to be careful Mom was still watching him LOL. The next time he voted Dad told me that he voted for Barack Obama. I asked him why did he voted for a Democrat? Dad said because your Mom would have wanted me to do the right thing. Dad passed before the next election.
We live in the Ybor City area. Just like in any other neighborhood we put or recycling containers out to the curb for pick up. In our neighborhood sometimes people come and dig thru the cans to get aluminum cans and take them to the recycling places for cash. One day I had taken the can out to the curb when our doorbell rang. I opened the door and there was a guy who had just gone thru our trash. He politely said “Did you know that you’re supposed to break down your boxes? You have missed a couple.” I thanked him. WOW and you thought your neighbors were TOUGH!!!
You could hear a cheer across Ybor City when Bradley’s re opened!!! Even more cheer about, they are now smoke free too. The Management & Staff are all just as excited to see you as we are to see them. All the CDC guide lines are being followed and enforced.
YES!!!! The Market is back open again! Everyone showed respect and wore a mask. It was good to see old friends and a couple new ones too. The market is open every Saturday. https://www.facebook.com/ybormarket More photos on our web site.

If you’re not following Tom on Facebook you need to start
today! Tom is the co-owner of The Crowbar in Ybor City. His fight to do the
right thing is encouraging and inspiring. The Crowbar is a music venue that has
been closed since March. We have known Tom for over 14 years and he has helped
many organizations, bands and people in Ybor City. We are so proud to call him
a friend! Tom, who is also on the YCDC Board
& Ybor Merchants Assoc., has been fight for all venues to reopen. His post are a reflection of the strange times
we all are living in. IT’ S TIME TO REOPEN ALL BARS! Be Safe!!!
The Ybor City Wine Bar started in Ybor City. They expanded to Seminole Height and South Tampa. Due to the covid, the Seminole and South Tampa locations have now permanently closed. As a community, we all share in/with Jayme, Mike & staff in their pain. We hope nothing but the best for their future. Every Wednesday there is the Ybor City Wine Society. Here you will taste and become more educated about wines. With great social distancing. Let’s all visit them this Wednesday.
The Honey Pot
The Honey Pot is closed due to the covid. Angel wants you to
know that he is thinking about all his friends in Ybor. Angel is now 12 years old.
One of his favorite treats is empty water bottles. After the club is closed
Angel goes hunting for these treasures. He would bring the bottles to D. Stephen
get a pat on the head then off to find more LOL. We all miss Angel too.
Gaspar’s Groto
From Eric Schiller …
So we were digging up some concrete on the patio. Look what
we found! An old rusty horseshoe. When do you think the last horse drawn
anything traveled the brick streets of 7th avenue.? Maybe in the early days of cars?
Maybe 1910? Horseshoes have always been good luck. We’ll wash this one off and
hang it up. We can use all the good luck we can get! — at Gaspar’s Grotto. https://www.facebook.com/gasparsgrotto/
Interesting Fun
Are you looking for something unusual to do? We took a trip to Largo to the “World’s Most Unusual Dollar Store”. It is hard to describe, but was kind of like going to aN Asian Flea market. They had everything. From Treasures to junk. What a fun way to social distance and get out of the house. Located at 4315 E Bay Dr, Clearwater, FL 33764

Netflix
Naughty Nancy & John got us started to watch the series “Reign”
on Netflix. What are you supposed to do during this Pandemic (besides wearing
masks). Then we started “Versailles”. Both the series are very interesting and
worth your time. Both are period pieces from France and about 100 years apart.
Regin is about Mary Queen of Scotts. With the Queens as the central characters
there is a lot of drama. It’s like an adult soap opera at times but every episode
ends with a cliff hanger moment. “Versailles” is about King Louie and his openly
Gay brother, Phillipe. How and why they built Versailles Palace outside of Paris?
The plot twists and turns to have you Binge watching right away. We give both 5
Thumbs up and we hope that you enjoy them as much as we did.
