Late last year Tim was diagnosed with cancer. In February 2014 he was able to finally obtain Obama Care that covered his preexisting condition. He is currently being treated at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida and undergoing Chemotherapy along with VERY PAINFUL radiation treatments. As a result he is unable to work.
This week he was denied disability to help cover the cost of his medications and care. His out of pocket expenses are thousands of dollars for is medical care co-payments and medications. He is responding well to treatment but has had some setbacks and a long battle ahead of him Tim is a strong, giving and wonderful person who has never asked for anything in his life.
We are asking Friends, Family and the Local community to help. Please help Tim to overcome this adversity and to get better soon!

Donations Sought For New Gulfport Library LGBTQ Collection
Contact: Daniel Hodge; (727) 366-4086; dan@igc.org
GULFPORT, FLORIDA: The non-profit Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Public Library has announced its intention to create a new LGBTQ Resource Center at the Library, bringing together books, periodicals and other media in a special collection that will serve as a community resource for Pinellas County and Florida. The Resource Center would be the first of its kind for a public library in the State of Florida.
A subcommittee of the Circle of Friends has been formed to chart a course toward developing and maintaining the LGBTQ (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender/Queer) collection. The committee is now actively seeking donations of books, CD’s, DVD’s, periodicals and other media which may be useful additions to the new collection. Donated items should be in new or gently used condition. Members of the public interested in donating materials may bring or send them to the front desk of the Gulfport Public Library (5501 28th Avenue South, Gulfport, FL 33707). Please label your donations accordingly if they are specifically intended for the LGBTQ collection. Committee members reserve the right to add donated items to their book sales inventory for fund-raising if items are not suitable for the collection.
Monetary donations are also welcome and are tax-deductible. For this purpose, please make any checks payable to the Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Public Library and note that the donation is intended for the LGBTQ Collection. For more information, please contact Committee Chairperson Roger Turner, (727) 698-7657 or RLTurner39@tampabay.rr.com.

“Foreverglades”is an environmental installation of six large red recycled plastic snail sculptures installed in front of the SSB and PAB. The installation will be in place mid-January through Earth Day, April 22. The “Foreverglades” installation premiered at Art Basel Miami at Miami-Dade College’s Freedom Tower—large recycled, plastic animals by international artist collective William Sweetlove and the “Cracking Art Group” based in Europe, represented by Gallery Ca d’Oro, Italy and Miami. The snails made their way to Tampa from Central Park in NYC where they were installed through the months of November/December. You may have seen them on CNN, while reporting on the recent snow storms in NY.
In its REgeneration Art Projects, the “Cracking Art Group” creates public art using recyclable plastic. The red snails are part of an intriguing public art series designed to inspire community-wide conversation about the importance and impact of recycling. They will provide HCC students with a conscious perspective on environmental protection and sustainability of Florida’s Everglades and fragile environments. They are bold, unexpected visuals that will leave a memorable artistic trace in Tampa. The REgeneration Art Project has developed an international following placing large, colored animal installations in a variety of unusual spaces worldwide, including Paris, Milan, Venice, Rome, Prague, New Orleans, NYC and L.A.
Your may have been asking…What are those huge Red Snails and why are they here?
