Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority to Cut Ribbon on
First Phase of Selmon Greenway on Saturday, May 2, 2015
WHAT:
The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony of Phase One of the Selmon Greenway, the 1.7 mile, 15 foot wide multi-use trail located within and adjacent to the Selmon Expressway right-of-way. The Selmon Greenway will complete a key connection from the Hillsborough River at the Rivewalk to just east of 19th street within the largest, city-wide trails network that includes the Riverwalk, Bayshore Boulevard Linear Park Trail and the McKay Bay Trail.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the USF Contemporary Art Museum and the Tampa Downtown Partnership will host Jane’s Walk: Get to Know Your Greenway – Where do We Come from, Where are We Going?, a guided conversational walk introducing the newly installed Selmon Greenway path and celebrating the legacy of urbanist and activist Jane Jacobs’ community-based approach to urban design. Featured stops on the walk include a conversation with Greenway expert, Alana Brasier, and play activities in a pop-up park designed by The Urban Conga.
Both events are free and open to the public.

Happy IRS Tax Day
Italiana Festival
Another great weekend in historic Ybor City with this past weekends Annual Festa Italiano celebration. The Annual benefit charity for the Italian Club Foundation offers the Best tasting entrees offered from over 150 favorite area restaurants. Everyone is Italian this weekend! Centennial Park was packed in the hot Florida Sunday sun.
The famous Italia Festival Bocce Ball tournament brings in over 60 teams from around the Tampa Bay area. Also the Italian Wine Festival, Italian Movie Night,and a stage full of entertainers pleased the 20,000 attendees.
Miami Beach Pride Goes International
The 6th Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival this past weekend again shined bright in the big Intl city. Grand Marshal was TV host and star, Mario Lopez. Many said that Mario felt the Pride!
Hundreds from Tampa Bay went traveling south for the huge Rainbow Carnival!
“It definitely was a very Gay Pride Parade.” commented Michael Wilson, Manager of Cristino’s. Michael ventured to Miami with traveling partner, Frankie Cerna. Both are on the board of the new Tampa Pride.
They were met up with locals including, Ybor City Bar owner, Jayme Kossar and Stephen Moss of Honey Pot & G. Bar and Nick & Tyler of Oxford Exchange.

Carl Delong, Jr, Hillsb. Cty’s Oldest Cold Case..And Gay
It is the oldest Cold Case on the Hillsborough County’s Sheriff’s Dept books. Carl E. DeLong, Jr was murdered in 1956 maybe in Tampa or Hillsborough County. His body was found bludgeoned in Hillsborough County. A young St. Petersburg Army man who was last scene in downtown Tampa’s gay bar area.
We were part of a major Tampa Tribune feature story 9 years ago that was over 8 months of research. We are still investigating for a final closure with help from Hillsborough County Sheriffs Dept cold case personnel.

You Can Not Make this Up
Years ago Mark was working in North Tampa at the University Restaurant on Fowler Ave next to USF. There was a very famous Tampa Doctor’s wife that would like to drink there. Her 1st drink always cost $20.00. That was the price for her 1st drink & a cab to drive her home later. LOL
She would always sit in the same booth. One day after she left we made a discovery!!!!!! In the small paper table tent advertising a drink special were her teeth!! She had taken them out and forgot them there!!! OMG What to do???
We put them in a glass of vodka and called her husband. LOL When her husband picked them up he said. “This is not the first time. She is always leaving them somewhere.”
