The Number 1, SUNday FUNday PARTY in Ybor City has temporary moved to the roof top of The Tangra Lounge. The location at the former Tequila’s is undergoing a MASSIVE FUN RENOVATION!!! Tea Cup, Miss April-May & June, Miss Joey Brooks, & DJ Mike Sklarz will all be back together & here for you. This Sunday, 12-20 the party will again be on the roof top. The following Sunday 12-27 will be in the newly renovated location. Doors OPEN at 12 NOON – Show Time

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! 1st THANK YOU ALL!!! 2 years ago I joined Tequilas and started a New SUNday FUNday. “Miss Ybor City” herself “Miss Joey Brooks” and the Legendary “DJ Mike Sklarz” joined me to create an incredible team!!! Many others joined the team over the past 2 years. This past week Tangra Night Club purchased Tequilas. This past Sunday was the 2-year Anniversary of our SUNday FUNday. Tangra brought back the original team Joey Brooks, DJ Mike Sklarz & Tea Cup back together for the finale’. Daniel Lee and Daniel Magee aka Shelby also joined us. You could feel the Excitement and so much Positive Energy in the air! Then Corey Martin Cane, the General Manager of Tangra made the announcement that SUNday FUNday will and must go on!!! So the SUNday FUNday family will not be breaking up, but will be taking it to a new higher level. Over the next 2 weeks, Tangra will completely re-do the former Tequilas. Turning it into a Fabulous New Ybor City Show Bar!!! SUNday FUNday for the next 2 weeks will be on the rooftop bar at Tangra Lounge, next door. Then will be returning to the NEW SHOW BAR. The original team will all continue to be there with new fun people for you to meet. We all are looking forward to seeing you this Sunday on the rooftop of Tangra. Thank You for being so supportive. Thank You Tangra for recognizing a Community that is also a loving family! The legendary party will go on.

This week it was announced. After two terms as Tampa’s mayor and nearly seven years as president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Pam Iorio is retiring. The LGBT Community loves and respects Mayor Pam so much! We all wish her and her family the very best. It was my pleasure to campaign on stilts for Pam many times. Here is a funny story you might not know….. The 1st Lady of Ybor City, the Legendary Miss Joey Brooks and Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio both went to high school together. Miss Joey Brooks often jokes. Joey went on to become the Queen of Tampa and Pam went on to become the King of Tampa!!!! LMAO As Paul Harvey would say, Now you know the rest of the story.

You Just Can Not Make This Up
One of our favorite Facebook Groups is “Our Old House” We accidently got 100’s of people talking on this site. We live in a one-of-a-kind 100+ year old home. I asked people what they thought about the unusually upside-down cross wood trim on the stairs. We know that actual history but wanted to see what people would say. Many people guess Arts & Craftsman. Wrong answer. Then they asked to see more, so we posted a photo of the upper stairs. Here is where it got CRAZY!!! In the window, when you zoom in, was the image of a face. People went nuts!!! You can just imagine the stories. After and hour we posted a 3rd photo. In the window sitting on a shelf is our Merman from our store. LOL Now here is the real story of the stairs. These stairs are from the original Hillsborough County Court House. Build in the late 1890’s in a Greek Revival style. When the courthouse was demolished, Judge Leo Stalnaker salvaged these stairs and had them re proposed into his home. These were the stairs the prisoners walked down from the court house then off to jail. The Judge said he could feel the regret in the hearts of the convicted on the stairs. The upside down cross has been interpreted by many as good and evil. The Judge and one other home owner both passed away in this home and these stairs were probably the last thing they saw.

The event take place on Sunday, December 13 at 8 PM, at Bradley’s on 7th. Bradley’s have invited all of the bartenders from Honey Pot, Southern Nights Tampa and Bradley’s to participate and perform.
We need YOU to encourage your favorite bartender(s) to prepare and perform a number, THEN come out and support them with you tips! The bartender, AND bar that raises the most money gets a trophy to display at their bar!

Ybor City’s Hotel Haya in running for
Best New Hotel in U.S.
Vote for Hotel Haya in USA Today’s 10Best through Dec. 21
Tampa, FL – Ybor City’s Hotel Haya is currently in the running to be named the Best New Hotel in the United States by USA Today. The boutique hotel has already been named by the newspaper as one of the 20 best new hotels and is included in the publication’s annual 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards of 2020.
Readers can cast a vote for Hotel Haya by clicking here. Voting closes on Monday, December 21st at 12 p.m. EST. You can vote once per day until voting closes. As of Monday, Hotel Haya was in second place. The winner will be announced on December 31st.
The $52-million Hotel Haya opened in September and is located at 1412 E. 7th Ave. The hotel spans century-old building and features 178 rooms, a pool, bar, café and a large, inviting lobby.
