Historic Moment for the Tampa GLBTA Community
Accolades came from council members including Councilwoman Lisa Montelione for GaYBOR District Coalitions hard unifying work efforts, for the international acclaimed outside art display of the “Piano’s in Ybor” and helping the city of Tampa by co-purchasing a Tampa Police Dept. Bicycle with Hampton Inn & Suites for the “Police Bikes for Ybor” campaigns. Proud executive board members of GaYBOR District Coalition were in the audience. Another Ex-Officio seat was given to the Roundtable of Ybor.
“The City of Tampa government shows its diversity and appreciates all the residents expertise. Now, we have to share that experience to the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners.” said Carrie West, GaYBOR president. About the county commissioners not signing the proclamation 2 weeks ago West added. ” GaYBOR Days was a showcasing of the historic gem for tourist in this historic Landmark District in Tampa. It is a very positive energy we have here in Ybor. In the down turn of Tampa’s economy, city leaders saw the positive impact going on while county leaders shrugged. Ybor City is changing, diverse, growing and very safe.”
GaYBOR District Coalition headquartered in historic Ybor City has 256 businesses, organizations and resident members from around Tampa Bay and the state. Its mission statement; Helping to create & promote a positive GLBTA economic surroundings while promoting safe tourism in a Landmark historical business and residential district destination setting.
