I was sitting in the car servicing waiting room when a guy comes in and sits next to me. He right way starts to tell me a story. He was at this same dealership when a 400-pound lady was walking by him and steps on his foot. She starts to fall and on the way down punches him in his mouth breaking a tooth. The worst part, in his words, she wasn’t wearing undergarments. He was traumatized by what he saw.
2 ambulances came to take them both away. He had a broken foot, cracked rib and cracked pelvis. Months of doctors and rehab. Then she sues him for tripping her and the dealership. 2 years later he won his case. Today he is still seeing doctors for his nightmares since. Last. Year his son took him to and all you can eat pizza parlor. The same lady came walking towards him with 2 slices of pizza in her hands. He turned and ran out the door.
What would you say to this perfect stranger? I was actually speechless and start to look for a hidden camera.

Quentin Crisp
“Enthusiasm is all the rage in America. People want to lavish praise upon you, at which they are very good, and almost at every corner. People praise your appearance in the street, and I do not know of any other nation that does that. You see, strangers will walk by and say, ‘Oh, I like your outfit,’ and then walk on without expecting any reply because I think they want to feel a general feeling of acceptance, niceness, and happiness. And that is wonderful and so American.” ~ Quentin Crisp
If you haven’t seen it yet, witness this architectural gem while you still can. The owners will likely demolish it eventually.
Built in 1917 as the First United Brethren Church, this structure served as a meeting place for congregations at 3300 N. Nebraska Avenue until about a decade ago. It still stands as one of the most respectable and inspiring examples of architectural design in the city.
Unfortunately, the building has deteriorated throughout the years. Deeper Life Christian Church has owned the building since 1993. Permits for interior remodel were granted in 2016 and 2019. It appears work never started.
Whether time has caught up with the building or demolition by neglect is taking its course, it appears this cathedral is destined to fall.
