Dr. Ben Carson, U.S. Conservative’s Presidential Choice?
Dr. Ben Carson, neurosurgeon at famed John Hopkins University maybe a future name to recon with. Unfamiliar with the name? His name has come up for being a high contender on the 2016 upcoming Conservative Tea Party Presidential ballot. A strong speaker with his moral judgement stating ” homosexuality.
On the Fox TV Network’s, Sean Hannity Show he compared “homosexuality with pedophilia and bestiality.” So what is new in the ol’ GOP Party these days? Super conservative PAC’s have a campaign coffer of over $3 million start for him to run for president in 2016.
He also recently said, “it seems God is calling me to run.”  And at the recent CPAC meeting in March stated,  “Gays…don’t get extra rights.”
Maybe a conservative contender or maybe not? Just wanting to keep you informed……

You Can Not Make this Up.

For many years we have the pleasure of knowing and working with’ Miss Stephanie Shippae’. Every time we are with her she will do something that cracks everybody up laughing. One Sunday afternoon Stephanie had just finished an afternoon show at Hamburger Mary’s GaYBOR. Out on the balcony on a beautiful day she was trying to unwind a little. When all of a sudden she noticed there was a big crowd starting to form on the sidewalk below.  Dressed in a beautiful blue rhinestone dress with a cut that went down past her belly button and jewelry to match. In classic form Stephanie let out her signature saying… “HEY EVERYBODY!!!” and gave the crowd a big 180 degree wave.
One spunky blue hair senior citizen hit her clueless husband and pointed up to the balcony. Stephanie cracked a big and said, “I bet you can’t see this at Ruth Eckard Hall!!”
A group of young people all dressed alike were waving at Stephanie. The next thing we now they are all on the HM balcony having photos taken with Shephanie……  HEY EVERYBODY!!!

Dear Friends of GLSEN Tampa Bay,

We are writing to bring attention and support to students in our community who plan to participate in the national Day of Silence.  The Day of Silence (www.dayofsilence.org) is one of the largest annual student-led actions in the country.  This student activity aims to silently and peacefully protest anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) bullying, harassment, and name calling.   Because students who are targeted for anti-gay bullying often do not identify as LGBT, the Day of Silence represents a peaceful protest of a problem that affects all students no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity.

On Friday, April 11th 2014, thousands of student across the state will vow to take a form of silence to call attention to the silencing effect that students experience who are victims of anti-LGBT bullying and violence. The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) of Tampa Bay offers support to students and educator efforts throughout the year, and during specific days of action such as the Day of Silence, in order to promote students’ safety, respect, and support at school.   The Day of Silence is an opportunity for students to take the initiative to teach one another about diversity, respect, and safety for all students. Students gain leadership skills, provide a valuable service to the school community and empower themselves by realizing their ability to be engaged in making a difference in their school.

Students who participate in the Day of Silence do so in a way that does not disrupt the educational process: on the contrary; these efforts are designed to enhance education for all by making schools a safer place to be.  Typically, on the Day of Silence, rather than speaking, participants hand out “speaking cards” explaining their reasons for remaining silent throughout the day. There are numerous ways in which Day of Silence participants can meet their academic responsibilities without speaking. With the support of teachers, students could lead or take part in a “silent lesson” or complete a written assignment.

When every student is safe from bullying and violence, the whole community will benefit. Please join us in supporting this cause by announcing the upcoming Day of Silence to the colleagues, peers, and leaders in your schools or community. A version of this letter has already been shared with School Boards, Superintendents, and Teacher Union leaders to help highlight the Day of Silence.  For additional reasons why a Day of Silence is important to anti-bullying efforts, please see our attached research brief on school climate in Florida. To learn more about the Day of Silence, including ideas for participation, please visit www.dayofsilence.org.

Sincerely,

Room Service staged reading to benefit StageworksA nimble-witted producer, living on credit with several actors in a Broadway hotel, is desperately in need of a good script. He finds one, and, by great good luck, he also finds an angel with $15,000. The play shows how, during a hectic few days, the producer plays hide-and-seek with the angel who wants to withdraw his financial support, manages to outwit creditors, and at the very last moments puts over his play in spite of the most ludicrous and unexpected obstacles. “This play, produced by George Abbott, is one of the great comedy successes of all times.
