You Can Not Make this Up.

There is this retired Vietnam veteran, we will call John,  who comes across tough a bit but is actually a big Teddy bear. One day he was telling me this story. There was a Gay bar in Tampa that he frequented. John asked the bar owner that since he comes to his bar that he should start selling Galliano Liquor.
The owner said “No” John told him his favorite line,  “F**K You! “ He then shouted, “then I will bring my own in dam it!” The next day John arrived at the club with his own bottle and started to enjoy is 1 shot a day from the tall yellow liquor bottle.
Several months later the club went out of business. It was rumored that a South Tampa bar had acquired the liquor from this closed club.   John walked into this South Tampa Club and ordered a shot of Galliano . Then commented to the young bartender, “it’s my bottle and don’t you dare try to charge me!”
Of course an argument started. Then John said to squelch the reasoning of his request. “Listen here mother F**kers look at the bottle, my name is on the back of it!” To their surprise there was his name, John written in ink.
LOL You just can not make this up!!!  Here is a Bonus story for Thanksgiving weekend!
This above story reminds me of another great memorable funny story. It was my 1st day bartending at Grand Central Station in St. Petersburg on Central Ave. A tall big rimmed hat guy came with a wide smile strolled in at the bar and ordered a beer.  He told me to only charge him $1.00.  There was a key on the register for him he said. I heard hundreds of customers stories to get a free drink!
I laughed and said, “No way LOL” One look and there was the $1.00 key with his name on it!. He was the pervious owner Wayne of the Club DT’s. In the sales agreement there was a clause that Wayne was to get $1 beers for the rest of his life.
LOL Wayne was short for Duwayne and DT’s stood for “Duwayne’s Turn” to own the club! Now you know a little St Pete history and the rest of the story!

A Message From Our Founder

“In the spring of 2002, I was attending a meeting at the home of the Executive Director of Crescendo: The Tampa Bay Women’s Chorus, and I asked what might be the possibility of Crescendo fostering the development of a brother chorus. The response was immediately positive, and the next few weeks flew by as The Men of Crescendo was born. Several months afterwards, we became Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Chorale, and our first concert – the holiday show “Unwrapped” – was a sold-out success.

Over the years, Una Voce has given me so many cherished memories – stepping onto the stage at Carnegie Hall, joining voices with the talented young people at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School, providing music for countless events such as Tampa Pride, St. Pete Pride, Pasco Pride, City of Tampa holiday celebration, Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and various other functions. Of course, I could never forget the many, many Tampa Bay Buccaneer games, where I and my fellow singers worked very hard to earn money for the chorus.

Serving as the founding president of Una Voce is one of the proudest accomplishments in my life, and it is only fitting that through my work with Una Voce I met my husband, Dakota Ty Hardin. Singing together in the holiday concert of 2006, we met one evening for coffee afterwards and have been together ever since. Dakota and I thank Una Voce for introducing us, and our Una Voce brothers in song were in our hearts, when we were married in Victoria, British Columbia, August 7, 2010.”

As we approach the exciting day created to assist not-for-profit organizations that has been designated internationally as “Giving Tuesday” on December 2nd, I ask that you dig deep into your hearts and pockets and provide the men of Una Voce with the support to continue the amazing work throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond…that the mission statement so perfectly states:  To celebrate the inherent dignity of all people through excellence in men’s choral music!  We appreciate your contribution, support, and love of music!
Thank You,
D J Holt, Jr.
