MC Film Festival – organized “Pride in Exile” moving Tampa Pride to Key West after County Commissioner Ronda Storms bans PRIDE Displays in Hillsborough Public Library. Hurricane Katrina strikes New Orleans.
“Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival”
Tampa’s 16th Annual International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival has been bringing in record crowds to the Tampa Theatre and Hyde Park’s Sunrise Cinema. At the Premier Gala, Performances by America’s singing Dragapella Group, the Kinsey Sicks frocked the crowd in the Outdoors Plaza! The few *#+* demonstrators around the street corners with the bullhorns didn’t damper any spirits what so ever. If anything it showed the cohesiveness needed in our community. All the films are wonderful and Florida Premiere showings include “Fish Can’t Fly”,” Adam & Steve”, ” A Year Without Love” & ” The Nomi Song.”

Over 50 films to view, a concert by Suede, Men’s GALA Parties and Women Hotter than Hot Parties, a Tampa Bay Business Guild Expo and other Gay Party Events. Most all the screenings are at the historical Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa on Franklin Street.

The 18th Annual TIGLFF runs for 10 days at the Downtown Tampa Theatre and Muvico at Baywalk in St. Pete. The Women’s Frisky Friday Party, Oct 12th. The Men’s Surge Party on Saturday, Oct 13 at Czars. The TBBG EXPO on October 14th. A new name for the film festival, clip!!!

Last week was the very successful TAMPA PRIDE Launch Party at City Side. Over 300 well wishers passed thru City Side that Night. This week as a sad good bye to George’s Alibi in St. Petersburg. Open for 16 years this was the hub of the St. Petersburg LGBT Community. They will be very much missed.

The District 3 Arts & Events will be starting Sunday T-Dances. The pre view reception will be on Oct 4th with the Grand Opening on Oct 11th. Many of us remember this locations for the Gay Bars that were here in the past including The Parthenon, The Garage & The Factory. What NOT to Say to your bartender. A couple walked up to the bar and both appeared to have been drinking. The woman started to cuss out a neighboring bar. I asked “What happened? Why were they so mean to you?” She actually said…. “Those MF’ers actually told me to leave. Just because I thru up all over their bathroom. NOW give me a MF strong drink NOW!!!” Hum… they both got ice water. LOL

We’re getting ready for “Beer and Hymns” time again!!! On Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM, join us once again at Hamburger Mary’s Clearwater for another entertaining and exciting adventure with great food and drink, amazing fellowship, and the chance to sing your favorite hymns and songs in a fun environment!
Hamburger Mary’s has a full menu featuring signature and world famous hamburgers, appetizers, dinner entrees, snacks and sides, and a full liquor bar serving up your favorite cocktails, wines, and beer.
