Gay Day’s Turned 27

     The overwhelming hundreds of thousands that descend on Orlando during the annual Gay Day’s Celebration still continues. The 1990 beginnings of a Day at Disney in Orlando that attracted hundreds of GLBT visitors its first year. The evolution of devoted founding group, Digital Queers wearing red shirts to show unity and awareness to new millennial flocking escapades of events at all the Disney Parks, Universal Studios, Sea World attraction parks, various other venues & hotels and of course the infamous Parliament House hosting top entertainment.
    The first week in Orlando is the worlds largest LGBT community congregating for one hell of a party.
Auto Club, Leather, Bear, Gurl, Chorus groups, Drag competition, twinks, group organizations and yes, computer IT groups that are all gay like the annual reunion.
    I met members of One Pulse in their booth, Watermark writers, Hotspots Media, Sawmill Campground
    I took part in the Saturday events at the Double Tree Hotel holding the Gay Days Expo and the eye candy Pool Parties. Major company brands and destinations that support LGBT rights and expression were handing out materials and getting attendee emails. The Gay Dollar is strong!
    Congratulations to another successful worldwide LGBT event.

 

You Just Can Not Make This Up

A friend of ours just turned 88 year old. We have know Walter for a very long time. Once he told us that when mean people retire they do not become nice people. They only become meaner people. On the other hand when nice people retire they become nicer people. How very true. On a recent night we ran into Walter at Bradley’s. I though to my self when I’m 88 I want to be just like him. There he was enjoying a cocktail telling jokes with friends and waiting for the 11:30 PM drag show.  We walked up to him and asked “How is it going?” Water said “I went to see my doctor this week. He had the nerve to tell me….. that I should think about stop drinking.” I just smiled at him and said “At 88 you think I should think about stop drinking??? Really??? I think I should  think about changing doctors!” If we all live to be 88. I hope we all will be having a cocktails with friends and waiting to see a 11:30 PM drag show!!!

Sun Swimsuits & Suds

Join the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce in celebrating the Sun, Swim & Suds Pub Crawl. This summer pub crawl will take place on July 15th, through the bars and restaurants of Ybor City. Hundreds of local Tamponians gather together in Ybor to celebrate the historic district and test out the local food & beverage. To keep our guests happy in this Florida sun, we are adding a water aspect to the party with ‘splash zones’ at each patio location. These splash zones will have water balloons, super soakers, & some wet & wild games to cool guests down.

Included in the ticket price, each bar will have a different 5oz beverage for guests to taste and a small giveaway to take home. The first 150 sign-ups will receive a T-shirt with sponsors logos & participating bars. All attendees are invited to join us at our after party at Crowbar. Sponsors will have the option of setting up a promo table at this venue. With multiple bars participating last year, we are looking forward to a growing event!

With the help of Creative Loafing, we will be blasting out newspaper ads all over the Tampa, Clearwater & St. Pete area. Since Ybor City is public transportation friendly, we will have attendees from all over the Hillsborough, Pasco, & Brandon area. Just like Aficionado Taste of Ybor, we are hoping for a sold out event! The low cost of the ticket and high return on investment prompts our guests to attend events in Ybor City. Our event page on facebook has already received over 500+ clicks and it is growing daily.
