‘Hactivists’ Target Westboro Baptist Church
Hacker group Anonymous appears to have singled out its next target – the controversial anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church in the US. An open letter, purporting to be from Anonymous, accused the church of bigotry and fanaticism. It warned that Westboro’s websites would be attacked if the congregation did not stop its public protests. In a defiant response, the church said it would not be silenced, and urged Anonymous to “bring it”. Westboro Baptist Church has been widely condemned for its aggressive anti-gay campaigning.

Wyoming Senate Passes Anti-Gay Marriage Bill
The Wyoming Senate narrowly voted Friday to stop recognition of same-sex marriages and civil unions from outside the state. House Bill 74 passed 16-14 after tagging on a last-second amendment guaranteeing out-of-state couples in civil unions access to Wyoming courts. Because of the amendment, the bill will now head back to the House to approve the changes. The House passed the legislation late last month 32-27. Supporters of the bill, House Bill 74, said the legislation is needed to resolve a conflict in Wyoming law, which defines marriage as a contract “between a male and a female person” but also recognizes any valid marriage performed outside the state

What a GREAT WEEK!!!!  Started Sunday with a friends morning brunch. Monday was spent out knocking on doors in the district.  Scott Spar & HOTspots Magazine hosted a GO WEST Meet & Greet at the Grand on Kennedy Condos. I met some very nice & involved in the community constituents there. Wednesday, candidate for district 5 Frank Reddick had made a very strange comment about the district. Read all about it below. Over at Hamburger Mary’s there was a GO WEST Meet & Greet BINGO for me . After BINGO it was off to Club PLAY & I was on TV at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jamnlive106  fast forward to 01:37:28 . Thursday was the candidates for Mayors debate at Creative Loafing Community Room. After the debate mayoral candidate Ed Turanchik held a “Debate After Party” at the Bricks in Ybor. Friday morning we were out knocking on doors again. In the afternoon was the GaYBOR District Coalition meeting. Saturday night I was proud to be on the GaYBOR Float in the Sant Yago Knight Parade. Sunday it was back out knocking on more doors after a brunch with friends. This week the St. Pete Times had this to say about me “West has a commendable agenda for creating homegrown jobs in the district.” Thank You St. Pete Times!!! SAY WHAT???

Wednesday, 2-9-11 THAN (Tampa Homeowners Assoc Network) hosted a Mayor & Tampa City Council Candidate Meet & Greet Forum in West Tampa. Candidate for District 5 Frank Reddick said to the homeowner leaders group “there are no good restaurants in district 5.”
I totally can’t believe he said that! There are so many GREAT restaurants in district 5 area of Tampa.
It makes you wonder what Mr Reddick considers district 5 & who he will represent.
Everyone that know of me or know me personally,  know that I will be representing ALL of district 5 and ALL of Tampa’s interest.

Perhaps Mr Reddick should visit Ybor City, Channelside, Downtown Tampa, Seminole Heights, Nebraska Ave & 40th Street corridors. I’m sure we could find him many GREAT restaurants here, all in district 5!!!!

When I am elected to Tampa City Council District 5,
 I will represent ALL of District 5  including;

College Hill, Channelside, Downtown Tampa, East Tampa, East Ybor, Florence Villa-Beasley-Oak Park, Grant Park, Live Oaks Square, Highland Pines, Historic Ybor City , Northeast Community, Northview Hills, Old West Tampa, Palmetto Beach, Port of Tampa, Ridgewood Park, Rivergrove, Uceta Rail Yard, V.M. Ybor, West Riverfront, Woodland Terrace and most of residential Sulphur Springs.

Partial sections of Courier City-Oscawana, Historic Hyde Park North, North Hyde Park, Old Seminole Heights, Southeast Seminole Heights, and Tampa Heights.

Early Voting starts Feb 19th. Election day is March 1st.

Krewe of Sant Yago Knight Parade

Over 60+ people, most dressed up as the theme wild & crazy pirates & behaving naughty were on the GaYBOR float! Before the parade the pirates were eating, drinking & trading prized beads!!! What a beautiful night for a parade.This year our guest of honor was Tom Dyer, publisher of Watermark Magazine. Tom brought with him a photographer and a “Cabin Boy.” Nobody recognized the Cabin Boy…. it was Miss Sami, famous Diva from Orlando! As the float turned onto 7th avenue there were over 100,000 people screaming for beads! It was truly an experience of a life time. After the parade the pirates took over GaYBOR!!!  A special thank you Miss Arica Love for some of the photos. Our camera suddenly had attitude!!!
