1st Parade of Food Trucks Rally Surround Centennial Park

It was a smorgasbord of tastes as the Ybor City Saturday Market held a food truck rally. What a great surprise to see over 20 Food Truck vendors line up all around the park. It was a first for Saturday Market to have the food trucks be a part of the market. Two Asian Guys creating a variety of Pan Asian dishes, Michele Faedo’s famous devil crabs, Tasty Stacy Italian food dishes and so many more wildly named companies had the aromatic air circulate the parks parameters. Thousands of people of all ages took in the recent neuvo culinary tastes from the huge monster revamped kitchen box cargo vans. Lynn Schultz, manager, of  the weekly Saturday morning soiree market was all in smiles.
” Some of the truck vendors called and said that they had broken down. But look at the crowd!” she cheerfully said. Eight new vendors signed up for last Saturdays airy show. This is the oldest continually operated outdoor market in the Tampa Bay area. Free parking, pet friendly, variety of food vendors and artists ready with new crafts and views of the world. Open every Sat from 9-3pm.
Upcoming is the largely attended and competitive 9th Annual Flan Festival, Saturday, February 25th in conjunction with Fiesta Days sponsored by the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce. The big payoff besides the cash prizes is the rights to brag & claim being the winner of “the ‘Best Flan” in Tampa Bay!”

Maine Organizers Expect to Win Marriage Vote this Time
Organizers of a ballot campaign to win marriage equality in Maine say they’ll have better political conditions this year than they did in 2009, when 53% of the electorate voted to overturn a marriage law passed by the state Legislature. “Public opinion has changed significantly since then, and younger voters, who tend to support marriage equality, are more likely to vote in a presidential election year.” said Matt McTighe of Gay and Lesbian Advocates & Defenders.

Washington State Senate Passes Marriage Equality
The Washington State Senate voted 28-21 in favor of a marriage equality bill Wednesday night, sending the legislation to the House of Representatives, where it’s broadly supported. The bipartisan vote came after a speech by openly gay state Sen. Ed Murray, who promised to invite his colleagues — including those who oppose the bill — when he weds his partner of 20 years. “Those of us who support this legislation are not, and we should not be accused of, undermining family life or religious freedom. … Marriage is how society says you are a family,” Murray said. House passage of the bill is expected soon, and Gov. Christine Gregoire has vowed to sign it into law.

    Florida State Fair Opens Thursday
The Florida State Fair opens this  Thursday for a 12 day run. Get ready for some more deep fried mashed potatoes with gravy inside. Oh you didn’t order that last year? There are plenty more new food items like the deep fried chocolate bacon stix. The Elvis Presley Impersonator National Finals, Xtreme Sports Shows, Country Gold Tour and hundred more acts will entice you to stop and stomp! What’s a great visual is seeing the days of my Midwest youth and reliving the Paul Bunyon Lumberjack Show or  the hunks in the  Florida Ranch Rodeo and the all time killer for seeing the race space for the ever not normal Racing Pigs. Alligators, horses, midways, games, Cracker Country and shows for a great state fair experience. www.floridastatefair.com
