Then 9ish it’s over to RISE Sundays for the rooftop show under the stars!!” THANK YOU Orlando residents for finding GaYBOR!!! The perfect 1st stop on a Friday or Saturday Night in GaYBOR/Ybor City is the balcony of Hamburger Mary’s!!! Here you will find the Famous Tea Cup and a group of friendly locals. Enjoy your first cocktails with a great view of 7th Ave and find out where the best party spots are from Tea Cup & the Gang! Hands down the very best floor show is at the end of the evening at NY NY Pizza. Relax on the sidewalk cafe with a cold beer & slice of pizza. The show that parades past will have you talking for weeks to come!!! And Bradley’s on 7th is doing it again very soon! They are bringing in the top Professional wrestlers in the ring for a night out of ringside brawling wrestling and crazy drag queens emceeing!! The Buzz Coffee Shop on Harbour Island and Cigar City Magazine have a new documentary series, Tres Cuentos, One Cuba starting May 3 at 7pm.  This is and independent group project documentary that was filmed by Tampa filmmaker  Fred Smith  with Cuban Sandwich producer David Audett, musician Alfredo Rivero and honored Tampa Laureate, James Tokely.

     You are invited to our next monthly GaYBOR District Coalition  meeting. The meetings are free of charge and open to the public. This monthly meeting will be on May 11, 2012 at 4PM.  This month’s meeting will be hosted by the Hilton Garden Inn, 1700 E 9th Ave., Ybor City and our special guest speaker is Tampa City Councilwoman Lisa Montelione.

 

    Every other Monday we head to Sanwa Farmer Market on Hillsborough Ave. www.sanwafarmersmarket.com.  One trip here and you will be back many times!!! But wait that’s not the story here. Directly across the street is the Yummy House China Bistro http://yummyhousechinabistro.com/ . We have heard great things but just never had the time to stop. This past Monday we stopped for the first time. Inside was a surprisingly totally fresh modern fine Asian dining room. Having spent time in Asia and mainland China we eagerly went thru the menu. Suddenly we notice, to our delight, the table next to us were enjoying dim sum  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sum .  Dim Sum is small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates. We are told that on the weekends Yummy House does a traditional Dim Sum service where they roll carts thru the restaurant and you pick your choices.

    On our visit it was served like sushi with a paper menu where your check off your choices. What can out of the kitchen was like the food of Gods!!! The only other time we had dim sum this great out side of China was in NYC China Town!!! The only negative thing we can say about our visit to Yummy House is “The Dim Sum was so Great!!! That we will probably not get a chance to try the rest of the menu!!!!”

    Celebrity Farmer Joel Salatin featured in The Omnivore’s Dilemma and the film Food, Inc. spoke at a “local food” dinner/fundraiser for Sweetwater Farms at The Roosevelt 2.0 on April 19. Joel shared his vision for the future of food in America. The event was simulcast at local food events
