As everybody focuses on all the pride parties and events happening in our city and others, please let’s not forget those people who fought the early battles that made pride possible. The people who were unable to see the fruits of their efforts. The people whose names we can no longer remember.

(Pictured is the 1993 AIDs quilt laid out at the foot of the Building in the Washington monument. I helped sow several of these quilts for friends who had passed. I did many more for the second unfurling of the aid quilt. It was incredibly somber, gut, wrenching, and spirit killing. Everyone I knew was looking over their shoulder, wondering when they were next. Including me.)

Fringe Festival

Black Sails

What Pirate are LGBT??? YES!!! Black Sail is fact and fiction and based on several pirate tales and legends. At times felt like a Pirate soap opera, then over the top action.  Besure to read the all-star cast credits in advance. The LGBT twists are fascinating both spoken and unspoken. The ending will not disappoint but warning it is a romantic tear jerker that we did not see coming.

If you are lucky, you will have crazy fun sisters like we do! One SUNday FUNday 2 of our sisters (both in their upper 70’s) were in Ybor City with us. We went home early and they wanted to stay out longer. We left them unsupervised and told them to Uber home. A couple hours later we heard zoom zoom outside. Our sisters had made new friends in Ybor. When they went to call the Uber they guys said no problem we will drop you off.  They were a motorcycle club!!! As they jumped off the bikes we thought COUGERS!!!!  LMAO

In 2012 the RNC Convention was held in Tampa. It was the toughest security we had ever seen. On one night there was a Republican LGBTQ+ Party at the Ybor City Gay Bar “The Honey Pot”. We all dressed up and went to see who was there. It was a bit of a letdown. Most of the guests were curios people from Ybor City like us. In the past there have been big protests at this party. Not this year. Across the street at Bradley’s on 7th (a Gay Bar too) The officers lined up in front to protect the business. Wounder if the guys knew there were in front of a Gay Bar???? Notice the posters of Joey Brooks and Esme looking at the guys!!! LOL It did make for great views from inside. LMAO
