November 12th could not have come any sooner to the Orlando community. Hurricane Matthew traveling through Florida set Orlando’s Come Out with Pride back 1 month from the October 8th festival date.
Yes, Orlando had a great emotional Pride event. Well managed, positioned, participation and execution. Hats off to Tampa & Tampa Pride’s Sister Pride organization in Orlando. The national media had their eyes focused on the Central Florida Festival for our nation to witness the honor, emotions and healing. But, the tone was of personal gleeful cheer. yet a deep inner mourning that the local residents still hold onto because of the tragic night at Pulse Night Club. It was a closure that was honored by the 160,000+ attendees to share and behold with fellow residents spirits of gay Orlando. Huge national corporations participated in the weekend festival to show support to the LGBTA and Orlando community.
The meaningless mass murder still affects the whole LGBTA world community but the epicenter city event was a closure that was needed more than mending and counseling by close friends. Tears were flowing and a large abundant hugs to strangers and friends was most evident. The overtone was high in energy. The day was beautiful 73 degrees. It was a spirited day of ways. Lake Eola festival area in downtown Orlando was packed yet things ran very smoothly like a moving train. Even Disney made smiles on the attendees. We now can look forward with the past remembered in our minds and hearts.
Tampa Pride, GaYBOR District and Tampa Bay residents shown their utmost support and respect by the many vigils of over 10,000 local residents held in Tampa last June with all the communities government officials gladly wanting to come together and share in the tragic event.
In the sight of the Pulse Night Club building are thousands of heartfelt notes, letters and tributes from around the world that are placed on the fence that surrounds the Pulse. Mementos left daily around the ghostly rainbow collaged property on South Orange Avenue. Flowers, notes, personal belongings just to honor those innocent close friends and victims lost.
The city of Orlando just this past week purchased the Pulse Night Club property and will make a city memorial permanently displayed for worldwide visitors to honor our fallen Gay Brothers and Sisters.

MCC St. Petersburg – King of Peace Church
The Tampa Bay Times reported there was hate graffiti this week at this popular LGBT Church . MAGA stands for make America Great Again. Here is the story…
“St. Petersburg police are investigating after swastikas and graffiti were scrawled in chalk on the sidewalk in front of the King of Peace Metropolitan Community Church, 3150 5th Ave. N.
“Next to the swastikas were the numbers 14 and 88, which are associated with the white supremacist movement, and the letters “MAGA.” Those letters have become shorthand for Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America great again.
“The graffiti was scrawled just feet away from a church marquee that reads, “Love one another please — God.”
“The Rev. Candace Shultis called police after discovering the graffiti Monday morning. St. Petersburg police were at the church investigating, department spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez said Monday.
“It’s unclear why a Christian church would be targeted with anti-Semitic graffiti. King of Peace serves a congregation that’s largely lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. Shultis said.
“She said she believes it’s a sign that “the underbelly of hate in America” exposed by the divisive presidential election.
“I think it’s an indicator that a certain amount of hate speech has been unleashed and made appropriate in our country, and it terrifies me, especially as the pastor of a church that’s predominantly LGBT,” Shultis said.
“I believe it’s done by someone who intends to intimidate, and we will not be intimidated. Our message is very different than the message chalked on our sidewalk and we will continue to proclaim loving, not hating.”

It truly takes a village to decorate Ybor City. There was a huge crowd of volunteers to help this 9th year. This has become a family tradition for many. One year Bonnie P was helping out. We put her 11 year old grand daughter in a big box. Then asked Bonnie to bring the box over. Everybody is still laughing at how surprised Bonnie was when her granddaughter jumped out.

I’m sure that all political parties have colorful and unique volunteers. We were at a watch night party for a old friend and female candidate who won. The candidate asked “Where is Mary Ann?” A lady made her was to the center of the room. Pointed her finger to the sky and in a loud voice proclaimed….. “A woman’s place is in the HOUSE!!!! the crowed gasped. Then she said “And in the SENATE TOO!!” The crowed broke out into laughter. What a Hoot of a person. T

Janet Reno Died this past Monday November 7, 2016. Janet served as the Attorney General of the United States from 1997 to 2001. In 2002 Janet ran for Governor of Florida. She was famous from driving her red pickup truck across Florida. Now here is our Janet Reno Story. Every February the SunCoast Resort (at the time the largest LGBT resort in America) would host a push pull walking parade thru the courtyard. The photo below was of our group and Mark walking on stilts. At the end of the parade Mark noticed a red pickup truck. Then on stilts walked up to a lady and said…… “You look just like Janet Reno.” She said “That’s because I am Janet Reno.” Mark told her that he was a fan of her. Janet said “Well then that makes you my tallest fan ever!” That summer every time there was a red pickup truck in the parking lot people would say “Is Janet Reno here?” Do you know how many Lesbians were driving red pickup truck in 2002? LMAO
