ANYTOWN™ empowers diverse groups of young people to create more inclusive and just schools and communities where all individuals are treated with respect and understanding. ANYTOWN™ is a five-day, four-night residential leadership and diversity education program that brings together 50 to 60 adolescents, ages 14 to 18, of diverse cultural, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds to build a culturally diverse community from the ground up.

Gilbert Baker age 65
The creator of the LGBT Rainbow Flag passed this week. The flag made it debut in 1978 as part of the Gay Freedom Parade in San Francisco.

You Just Can Not Make This Up
A good friend of our is a fantastic baker and cake decorator. One afternoon she brought a cake to the club for a Birthday Party at 9:30 that night. The regulars were all impressed by the cake. They next day the regulars were asking how was the cake. I smiled and told them that they didn’t make it back and were going to have it the next day. Then one of the regulars, being cheered on by others, said You know the cake rule…. Any cake left for 24 hours is up for grabs. He went on and on. I slipped away and went to the walking cooler. There was a different 1/2 cake left over from another party. I cut a big slice and brought it out. Everybody looked like deer in headlights. OMG YOU ACTUALLY did it!!! I smiled and said yes right out of the center of the cake. Everyone said please don’t tell her!!! She will so kick our butts. To this day they think I really did think cut her cake. LMAO
The Next Arts Networking Meeting
Join Us at Rustic Steel CreationsPlease join the Arts Council at Rustic Steel Creations in Tampa Heights for our April social and professional networking meetup on Tues., April 18, 6:30 pm. If you are in the arts, this is a great opportunity to meet other artists, talk to other people who are involved in the arts and hear about a local metal sculpture studio.
Rustic Steel Creations founder Dominique Martinez is a welding artist with a love for making custom sculptures, banisters, and gates from steel and iron. Dominique and his team look at working with steel and iron as an art form and approach each new project like creating a piece of art.
At our arts networking meetup, Dominique will give us a tour of the outdoor metal workshop and talk about recent projects and commissions. Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.
Artists of all disciplines and arts groups are welcome! Everyone gets a chance to introduce themselves and we encourage you to bring business cards, promotional flyers, or brochures to exchange and spread the word about the good work you’re doing.
