You Just Can Not Make This Up
One of our apartment was rented to a Fun Artist and Bartender, who we liked very much. After 5+ years she moved out and told us she couldn’t take everything with her. No problem we have cleaned out many apartments before. In our urban neighborhood things that are still good are put on the curb for anybody to pick up. Out to the curb went bar stools, wine cooler, furniture and art works. Remember we told you she was a artist. Included in this art was a stack of naught but nice framed painting of a woman’s private parts. There was also a lot of booze. (This is the actual photo of the booze) . We put the photo on facebook with a note FREE to the 1st person to come for it. Right away there was a message from Bill, a friend of our from the Ybor Quarter had called an Uber and was on his way….. I moved 4 cases of booze to the curb. A car pulled up and the guy jumped out. He said “Did I beat Bill here? I’m his friend and will take 1 case.” We gave him the case. Just as he was pulling off Bill pulled up. We told him his friend just left. “Bill said What friend??? LMAO We started to load the liquor into the car. The Uber driver with a very heavy India accent asked “What is going on here? Why is all this on the front lawn?” We explained it was Urban Re Purposing. He picked up one of the painting of a woman’s private parts and actually says “OH MY this is a Very Good Painting of a Woman’s KITTY CAT!” Everyone laughed and we told him he could take it home and in fact take all 12 home. He put all 12 in his front seat and said ” My friends will not believe that today I found 12 Kitty Cats on a front yard and got to take them all home. I love this Uber job!!!”

I am Mark Bias. I am a journalist, bartender, Gay Non Profit officer and proud husband to Carroll “Carrie” West.
I want to nominate Carrie for all the attributes, energy, hard work and visionary ideas that he has done and continually has done for the Tampa Bay LGBTA area.
Carrie is from a large supporting family in the Midwest. 5 sisters and a big brother. We live in Tampa, Florida for over 37 years now.
Accomplishments start as a loving caring individual and thinks of others first. Be it family, associates, friends, residents and local leaders, Carrie has time to talk and engage with anyone. Any age, any ethnicity, any diversity, any thought or agenda.
Carrie’s philosophy he lives by is, ” to meet 1 new person a day! ”
We closed our MC FILM FESTIVAL, LGBTA Pride Retail Gift Stores in Tampa, St Petersburg, & Orlando after 27 years in 2016.

Carrie was a member of the United States Air Force, Canine Drug Squadron.

Rustic Steel Creations
The Hillsborough Arts Council had a community field trip and had a great privilege and time at the famed Rustic Steel Creations studios in Seminole Heights. An imaginary studio where concepts turn into fantastic art creations. All the metal glistening dragons, enormous glimmering fish, exotic privacy gates and composed land art pieces all around the Florida and the Tampa Bay area are a fixation. made out of old parts at the corner of Highlands Ave and MLK, Jr Blvd.
We were so happy to get invited to see a broader spectrum of the metallic works, the understanding of how the creations were conceived and a chance to meet up with artist and his team.
Rustic Steel Creations founder Dominique Martinez is a welding artist with a passionate love for making custom sculptures, banisters and gates from steel, aluminum and iron. Dominique and his artist team look at working with the metals as an art form and approach each new project like creating a piece of visionary and imaginative art.
His fervent humor and description of many pieces starting concepts were truly letting his inner expanding reflection of the rustic materials he has materialized and molded.
His work is best described by the pieces that you may recognize all around the Tampa Bay area. Metallic shiny dragons on top of buildings, chickens in the lawn at HCC Ybor, to many pieces that are at Busch gardens. Hats off to a great community artisan.
