The general of the Ybor Army notified the Ybor City Mayor Tom Keating (this years honorary mayor and Ybor Chamber president) of the plan to counteract the Jose Gaspar pirates invading the waters of the bay. Thus starts the annual Gasparilla festivities in Tampa. The fun filled ceremonial fight is with the Ybor Navy forces throwing Cuban bread, Black beans and rice at the pirates using water cannons to capture their way into Tampa through Ybor City. this fun reenactment sets the stage for Tampa’s social events through February and March. The wet trenched fight was behind the Florida Aquarium on the SS American Victory ship and smaller vessels were on the bay. A wet event was had by all! The previous night a spectacular multi krewe fundraising event had a fun night of dancing, entertainment on board.and a silent auction

It looks like soon there will be an announcement about 2 new neighborhood LGBT Bars will be opening in GaYBOR!! Both clubs will be open in the afternoons 7 days a week. Only in GaYBOR do we call 3 story clubs neighborhood bars!!! The “In Place” to be for Wednesday Happy Hour is the Crow Bar with Bonnie. The club is packed with locales and visitors alike. If $2.00 martinis don’t get your attention how about truly 1/2 meals? Check out Bernini in GaYBOR for this special! The bands at Centro Canteen have been incredible!! Joe has been booking some of the best bands in Tampa here! Also across the street at JJ’s Cafe the food is WOW and music is too!

Keith Olbermann Walks Off MSNBC
There are nights that you just want to get another perspective of life around you. Also some political input and insight. I found that with the 8:00 pm hour a news show that offered contrasts, opinions, insider information and things that happened in the day. You became the judge if it is important in your life or not. Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC was one program that I guess I was attuned too watching! I don’t know why but it offered legitimacy instead of dead air sitcoms or wretched reality TV programing. There still hasn’t been an explanation as to why he is off the air by the executives. We hope to see him reappear soon. I just want to say that I will miss the Worst Person in the World segment for the bantering of worldly rhetoric of a 3 stooges discipline mentality

On Friday, January 14th at the New metro Wellness & Community center was the mayor forum. All six of the candidates spoke to a crowed of 150+. What a honor for GaYBOR. On yet another very cold night… an impressive group attended Carrie’s Meet & Greet at the Don Vicente. Paul Thomas was on piano to deight the group. Ashley performed several songs too while treated to the Don Vicente famous sangria & finger foods. Carrie delivered an impress speech on the future of Tampa and his ideas to get us all there.
