Kurt has been active in the Tampa Community for over 30 years. Dating back to the original Baxter’s Days, Angels, Male Box, Copa, and Matrix. Be careful what you say. Sadly, University Art professor, seamstress, innovator, book writer, craftman and community talking friend, Ms Sharon Rose closed her retail clothing and gallery boutique store in Centro Ybor this week. The good news is that Sharon is not moving her home out of Ybor.

New GaYBOR District Coalition New Officers
The GaYBOR District Coalition had its June Meeting with a new change in officers. The newsy, informative and election monthly meeting had Tampa Police Dept. Community Officer Sean Mahabir talk about the new Ybor City Business Crime Watch which is going to be implemented in the next couple of months and operates very similar to neighborhood crime watches. The new Tampa Police Dept Bicycle for Ybor City was previewed in the meeting. The over $2000 retail priced police equipped bike was a gift from the GaYBOR District Coalition and Hampton Inn & Suites Ybor and is going to be officially presented & dedicated to the Tampa Police Dept with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor on July 5th at the Hampton Inn & Suites Ybor. Finally the new District 3 Tampa Police Memorial Garden at the 22nd District 3 Police headquarters on 22nd Street is in memory to Tampa Police Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis who were shot and killed June 29, 2010. GaYBOR has helped in the Memorial Gardens. Dedications Ceremonies are planned for June 29th.

Congratulations to Matt Wolf who received the Pantheon of Leather Community Service Award, winner of the Florida Regional Award. Regional Awards winners were announced on stage in the Leather Market at International Mr. Leather in Chicago, IL on Saturday afternoon, May 28.
