Carrie,
I’m trying to assess what the local GLBT community is looking for in a
community center and I have made a survey asking a few questions. I
was wondering if you could post this survey on Dishing with Mark and
Carrie? The link is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/827JCYT

City of Gulfport Nostalgic 101st Birthday Bash, Saturday, October 8th
Mark your calendar for the City of Gulfport’s 101st Birthday Bash on Saturday,
October 8th from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. And what better way to celebrate than to have a good old fashion Gulfport Birthday party at the Gulfport Historical Museum?
A new twist to an old tradition as there will be plenty of Antiques! If you are an antique buff, this event is for you. If you think you have an heirloom of worth from great grandma, bring it to Scout Hall from 1 – 3 p.m., where professional
appraisers from the Gatehouse will value your Antiques for $5.00 per item or 3 items for $10.00.
Children can sign up for Chalk Art Contest which begins at Noon and judging will start at 2 p.m. Free Inflatable kids jumping area will be available throughout the event. You can check out vendors along 28th Ave. S., take a guided trolley tour of Old Gulfport and try your hand at the popular Mullet toss (we dare you). The traditional Worthington (7th generation Gulfportians) fish fry dinner is a “must try” experience. Celebrate Gulfport’s 101st Birthday with a free piece of cake at 3 p.m.
During this event, take an inside tour of the Gulfport Historical museum and pick up your brand new Historical Society Gulfport Calendar. It is a bonus 15 month calendar with the Gulfport event dates of October 2011 – December 2012. Calendars will be ready for purchase for $5 at the Birthday Bash, so be sure to get your calendar or call the Gulfport Historical Museum at 727-327-0505 to secure your order.
The Historical Society is also looking for a few wonderful musicians to donate their time and talents during the event. This is a fundraiser for the Historical Society and also it would give musicians great coverage. Please send music demo and info to: Gulfport City Hall, C/O Leisure Services, 2401 53rd St. S. or drop off at the main desk. Please include name, phone # and email address. Deadline for submission is Friday, September 23rd. All demos will be reviewed and chosen musicians will be contacted. Entry demos will not be returned.
So call your old friends and meet some new ones at the City of Gulfport’s 101st Birthday Bash at the Gulfport Historical Museum at 5301 28th Avenue S. on Saturday, October 8th from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Antique and crafter application fee is $10 and vendor fees are $50 for craft and $75 food vendors.
