During this event, take an inside tour of the Gulfport Historical museum and pick up your brand new Historical Society Gulfport Calendar. It is a bonus 15 month calendar with the Gulfport event dates of October 2011 – December 2012.  Calendars will be ready for purchase for $5 at the Birthday Bash, so be sure to get your calendar or call the Gulfport Historical Museum at 727-327-0505 to secure your order.

The Historical Society is also looking for a few wonderful musicians to donate their time and talents during the event. GaYBOR Directors Meeting with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn
It was like the “State of GaYBOR “ in historic Ybor City meeting in a round table forum with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and GaYBOR District Coalition Directors. Issues that were of concern were late night private parking lot security, lowering parking prices at night to fill up the city parking garages, aggressive panhandling on 16th Street near garage, GaYBOR area (GLBT district) recognition by the city as many other major cities have which provides a huge economic impact for tourism dollars, the Tampa Streetcar situation, to close the oldest Tampa cold case murder of a gay man last seen alive at a downtown gay bar- Carl DeLong, Jr. murdered in October 1956. And yes, the need of a possible downtown baseball stadium for Tampa by director Mike Olds.. The over hour long get together brought new ideas and sharing of Tampa’s economic direction with many upcoming events including Outback Bowl and GOP National Convention next August in Tampa. An upcoming scheduled meeting with Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor is in the works. Thank You Mayor Bob for your ear and candid openness!!
