It truly takes a Diverse Rainbow Village to host Tampa Pride. More strong volunteers are needed to set up the tables and tents 6:30AM – 8:30AM on Saturday, May 22nd. More volunteers are needed throughout the festival and Pride at Night. Please send your contact info to 3510E8@gmail.com Thank you.

Our friend Susan Saint Messer took this very interesting photo from her office window in Ybor City. In 2002 the Heartline TECO Streetcar started up again. In this photo is a very controversial situation. This is the only place in America where streetcar tracks cross over CSX Railroad tracks. At the time there was HUGE DRAMA over this. The railroad wanted an unbelievable large insurance policy. When the streetcar first started, they even had a person standing on the track to make sure there were no trains coming. With no incidents the Hartline TECO Streetcar and railroad became friends. Now fast forward to May 22, 2021. This will be the 7th year of Tampa Pride. For the past 6 years the Tampa Pride Diversity Parade rolls down 7th Ave in Ybor City. On the corner of 7th Ave and 13th street the parade crosses over the streetcar tracks. This year, as before, Heartline is charging Tampa Pride $1,450 to cross their tracks. You would think with no problems in the past Heartline would let the parade cross for free. WTF
Congratulations Trevor James
Trevor James is the newly elected President of PFLAG TAMPA!!!! Under Trevor’s leadership there will many positive things coming out of PFLAG TAMPA. Trevor is also the co-chair of Tampa Pride at Night Celebration at the Cuban Club . This photo was taken at Tampa Pride 2016 GO Trevor & Richie!!!!
The Honey Bees
What an educational week we had. The tree in front of our house became a Honey Bee Hive. We love the bees but are allergic to bee stings. We called “Jeffrey The Bee Guy” www.BeeRescues.com . They relocated the Queen Bees and many of her workers. It is regulated by the State. The bees were not harmed and were given a new wooded bee hive. After 2 weeks the bees are then checked in by the state. Jeffrey told us that the bees travel up to 3 miles a day away from the hive. We highly recommend Jeffrey for you bees relocations.
The 7th Ave Archway Lights
Did you know there are only 2 National Historic Districts in Florida? Ybor City and St Augustine.
The Archway Light in Ybor City will be changing. This is a very interesting link that will answer many of your questions. We think they should include an interview with Sean & Diane James the original builds of the 1st archways.

We are eternally grateful for the doors The SMART Ride has opened to METRO over the years. We will continue to put our support behind the dedicated teams, riders and crew members whose efforts have created such an incredible impact and many treasured memories over the years.
Additionally, we want to express our sincerest gratitude to the organizers, and in particular Glen Weinzimer, who works so tirelessly to bring our many communities together for this common and important cause. We will remain great champions of The SMART Ride and will continue to support and elevate all of those involved.
