New Year’s Eve Evets you will not want to miss!!!

In Ybor City there are actually 2 main events in Ybor City. The first is a parade that starts at 5:30pm. Then at Midnight the Celebrations are all over Ybor City. Come out for either one or both. Happy New Year!!!

The Parade

Eclectic Ybor City is the site of this festive celebration featuring the ReliaQuest Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade and a pep rally. The parade will feature floats and marching bands including the two college bands! The Pep Rally features a battle of the bands and cheerleaders from both universities. This free family event is sponsored by our friends at 970 WFLA, Mix 100.7 FM, US103.5 FM, 98Rock, 620WDAE Radio, Ybor City and the City of Tampa. Be there early. The Parade starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs along 7th Avenue.

You Just Can Not Make This Up

There really is a thing called “Minnesota Nice.”  One holiday I flew home to Minnesota to visit my parents. Dad asked me to go furniture shopping with him, to buy a new kitchen table for Mom. We went to a very nice furniture store and picked out a beautiful table set. Then Dad says, we will take this table but no not want all 4 chairs. I only want 3. I’m like Dad really…Why? He said that the table is up against the wall and they never use that chair. Of course, the salesperson knows my Dad. He said that the table comes with 4 chairs and the price is the same for 3 chairs. Then out comes Minnesota nice. Dad tells the salesperson to keep the 4th chair and give it to somebody who needs and extra chair. We took the set home and set it up. Mom liked it a lot, then asked where’s the 4th chair? Dad told her the whole story. Mom gave me the “WHAT???” look. Then just smiled and said “Isn’t that nice.”

GUILTY – Delayed

After 19 long years, the Tampa MONSTER steven lorenzo is finally being brought to trial.  Representing himself, in a surprise move, has unexpectedly changed his plea to GUILTY in the kidnapping, torcher, and murders of Jason Galehouse and Michael Wachholtz. When Jason first was missing his best friend Tyler Butler (Co-Host of Tru T weekly TV Podcast) lead the search for him in 2003. The police were no help and behaved very homophobic of the missing gay guys. At one point to prove the police were not homophobic they brought in an openly lesbian officer. Her name Officer Jane Castor. The Mayor of Tampa today.  At the change of his plea today, the judge ruled that more paperwork needs to be filed until he will accept lorenzo’s guilty plea.

 Today 19 years later Jason’s best friend Tyler & his husband, us (Mark & Carrie) who rallied and worked on the search and Jack S. (former 2606 bartender)  were in the courtroom.  Next Tuesday morning at 9am we will all be back in the Hillsborough courtroom looking for justice.

In the former home of Metro Inclusive Health will be new neighbors soon. A national construction firm will move its Tampa office from the suburbs to Ybor City. Archer Western Construction has signed a lease for 13,504 square feet in Ybor’s Sans Souci Building at 1315 E.
