Friday night started out with dining out at many GaYBOR restaurants and showcasing the neuvo eclectic district. At the Blue Dog Bistro a pre-movie party had a chance to meet up with special guests. The special guest, Stuart Milk, human rights activists and nephew to gay slain supervisor in San Francisco Harvey Milk addressed the audience with his memorable recollections of his uncle and mission of the Harvey Milk Foundation. The movie, “The Times of Harvey Milk” was shown to the Turkey National Assembly and to the French Parliament bodies of government. Proclamations were given to GaYBOR Days 2011 board members from Hills County Board of Commissioner Kevin Beckner. He questioned the reasoning of the other county commissioners not wanting to sign the proclamation in a growing and steadfast Historic Ybor City. Sally Phillips, President of Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus, spoke about her recent GLBT leaders dinner with President Barack Obama about GLBT political issues. Florida Other proclamations were received from the White House- President Barack Obama, U.S. House of Representatives Cathy Castor, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and from the entire City of Tampa City Council.
