Bloomberg Businessweek says that “Gay Sports Bars” are the newest and fastest growing comfortable trend for GLBT patrons to visit. Locally the gay community has Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg with 30 large flat screen TV’s showing a variety of sporting events or dance DVD’s on screen simultaneously. Just look around to see what you want to watch. Of course people watching isn’t bad either! Market research has the GLBT buying power at $743 billion up from $732 billion for 2009. That is one reason why GaYBOR District was created. We are happy that the local gay Suncoast Softball League had their largest Annual Suncoast Softball Tournament in Tampa 2 weeks ago and was a whopping great success bringing in 72 teams with over a 1000 guys participating from all over North America.

Mexico City Sets Record Gay Marriages in First Year

Seven hundred gay and lesbian couples have married in Mexico City since the capital enacted the first law in Latin America explicitly allowing same-sex marriages a year ago. The city government says there have been 367 marriages between men and 333 between women since March 4, 2010. The government said Friday that 73 foreigners were among those married, and the rest were Mexican citizens. It says nine of those who got married were between the ages of 71 and 90 years old.

Pastor Who Protested Gay Festival Accused of Obscenity

A Christian fundamentalist pastor known for protesting during the annual gay Southern Decadence Weekend in New Orleans was arrested on an obscenity charge after two women said he was masturbating in his van while parked near a playground,with children playing. The Rev. Grant Storms, 53, was taken into custody Friday at a park in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, The Times-Picayune reports. While bond was set at $5,000, he was released from jail on Sunday because of overcrowding, according to the newspaper, which was unable to reach him for comment Monday. The two women flagged down authorities after allegedly seeing the man sitting in the driver’s seat of the van and masturbating.?”It’s not true I confessed,” Storms said. “I’m losing faith in law enforcement.” Oh my Mr. Moral Crusader !!!!!

North Carolina Gay Pride Festival Stirs Debate

Organizers of the Outer Banks of North Carolina’s first gay-pride festival say they are not intimidated by opposition. But David Miller, a co-founder of the group planning OBX Pridefest, to be held in June in Nags Head, told The (Norfolk, Va.) Virginian-Pilot he is offended by some critics. Pastor Charles Tyler of Roanoke Island Baptist Church has called homosexuality “a scourge in any society that values decency” and charged the festival is being marketed as family-friendly to corrupt children.
