Take a Walk Down the Aisle with “Our Son’s Wedding “ at FST.
(Sarasota, FL)—Get ready to catch the bouquet with the regional premiere of OUR SON ’S WEDDING by Donna de Matteo, in Florida Studio Theatre’s Gompertz Theatre. OUR SON’S WEDDING will have preview performances on July 6 and July 7, with a press opening on Friday, July 8 at 8pm. The play will run through Sunday, August 7.    Our Son’s Wedding is a great family comedy where the past meets the present. An Italian-American plumber (played by Paul D’Amato) and his wife (played by Marina Re) have arrived at their son’s wedding (Michael Kevin Baldwin)—to another man (Gil Brady). Complications ignite in a humorous story of a family that needs to let go of the past and look toward a new beginning.
   FST will present the regional premiere of Our Son ’s Wedding . The new play had its world premiere at Gloucester Stage Company, and went on to a recent run at Lake George Dinner Theatre in New York. New York actress Marina Re returns to FST as the wife, Mary, after appearing as the mother in both The Miamians and Boleros for the Disenc hanted . She also appeared in Our Son ’s Wedding
at Lake George Dinner Theatre and Gloucester Stage in the same role. Marina’s husband, actor Paul D’Amato, will join her on stage in what will surely be a chemistry-filled portrayal of the couple Angelo and Mary Lo Presto.
   New York actor Michael Kevin Baldwin, most recently seen in Shear Madness at FST, will appear as the son, Michael, after appearing in the same role in Lake George Dinner Theatre’s production. Gil Brady, who was recently seen in I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE during FST’s Winter Mainstage season will play the fiance, David.
   Marina Re, Paul D’Amato, and Michael Kevin Baldwin return to the stage together after appearing in the Lake George Dinner Theatre production in 2010. Marina said, “I have cherished doing this play. It makes people laugh and it makes people cry. The audience connects with this family and to their struggles. And what has been the most amazing part is that I have watched it open peoples’ minds and hearts. I truly believe this is a play that needs to be seen and done, and I have been on a one-woman mission to accomplish that ever since!”
   Accomplished director and actress, Janet Mitchko, will direct the production at FST. Ms. Mitchko is the Associate Artistic Director at the Public Theatre in Maine. Marina Re said this of Ms. Mitchko’s work: “Janet Mitchko does everything right. She concentrates on the relationships. She makes each moment real and honest, and nothing is done just to get a laugh. She speaks the language of actors, being an actor herself. With this cast, this director, this play, and this theatre… I have no doubt that it’ll be a marriage made in heaven.”
   All 3 shows of the Summer Season – Cowgirls, Our Son’s Wedding, and The Savannah Disputation – will be presented at both FST’s Keating Theatre and Gompertz Theatre. Single tickets range from $19 for previews to $29-$34 for regular performances. A subscription to all 3 plays of the Summer Season ranges from $29-$42.    Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner started the annual Proclamation signing 3 years ago at County Hall. We had three commissioners sign 2 years ago, Comm Kevin Beckner, Comm Rose Ferlita, and Comm Kevin White.

   This year only Comm Beckner & Comm Les Miller have signed the “we stand to salute your economic growth constituents as independent business leaders in a less than foggy economy” pat on the back.

You Are Not A Second Class Citizen in this County!!!  Fight back, get involved and write to all the commissioners for a positive effort of support to all the GLBTA community members.

You all know that we, Mark & Carrie are a little bit crazy….. This week we were at MC Film looking at our photos on the wall. Billy Boots photo for some reason popped out at us. We took out the ladder & pulled her photos off the wall & then it started to get really WILD!!!! On the back of her photo was an article written by Watermark Dec 2003 with her obituary on it!!! When she passed away Sept 30, 2004 at the age of 71??? ( 81+ ), she had raised over $150,000 for National AIDS Organizations. WOW!!!! In the frame was the photo of Billy & Michael’s 20th Anniversary Show in 1996. It seems like yesterday when Glen, Stevie, ken, Vinny & us climbed into our mini van and did a road trip to Daytona Beach to see the show. Billy & Michael were so happy to see us and we all had a great time together. After many drinks Billy said “You know I was in that darn hospital again last week! This sex male nurse had the nerve to ask me my age!!!” I said “what did you tell him Miss Boots?”  Billy said “ I told him that I am 49 and don’t ever ask that question again!!!”  Sadly that was the last time we saw Billy. But WAIT THERE’s MORE!!!!!!!  So We go to take the photo out of the frame and what do we find?????????? The 1996 Miss Florida Pageant book! We had forgotten that the book was there from 14 years ago! Miss Joey Brooks had signed the back cover for us. We hope you enjoy looking at these pages as much as we did.

The Jose Cuervo National Competition Games had a highlight stop in Ybor City. It was one record hot day and humid night. This impressive all day & night road show set up in the Czar parking lot had rock climbing walls with waterfalls and gun blasters, blow up obstacle courses, Mayan Temple as a stage, a barrel climb & a 3 story swinging bridge was incredible!!! 37 teams all tried to win and get to go to the Mexican Jose Cuervo Finals this fall.  16 beautiful Tampa ladies also competed to be Miss Cuervo and be featured in Maxim Magazine. A future telecast date is set for 2012. A large crowd came to spectate the gladiator type competition and to hear the concert by rapper B.O.B.

The Zoya Shisha Hookah Lounge opened this week. Located on the corner of 7th Ave & 15th Street in the Heart of GaYBOR.  It is a First Class Hookah Lounge with emphasis on Class & Style. This will definitely be a place to impress a first date! Did we also say it was beyond very sexy!!!
